What does the word team mean to you? Does it make you think about sports teams, teams your children are a part of, maybe a day back in time when you were on a competitive team or do you relate it to your real life teams?
Even though we don’t wear jerseys with numbers or our names on the back, we are all a part of teams competing and working together daily.
On a daily basis in your career, you join others of varying skill sets to pursue the mission of the organization and ultimately achieve success. This is a team.
On a daily basis at home, you work with your family members to manage schedules, create a comfortable home environment and find life’s balance. This is a team.
On a regular basis you join forces with those of like mindset to have great workouts, enjoy hobbies, pursue ways to relax, distress and enjoy life. This is a team.
Teams thrive on everyone’s best attributes, while compensating for those things we don’t do well as individuals. Teams provide efficiency, a high return on human capital and often a sense of security and stability. We need teams in our
life. Going about everything alone is not the answer.
Maybe it’s time to make up some fun jerseys and announce your team! I do know it’s time to be aware that teams exist in your life and you are an integral part. Embrace the fact that teams exist in your life, go for a high five and be the
best at what you do.
