One of the passions in my life is being physically fit. The depth of my fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle has changed dramatically over the years. In high school and college, I enjoyed working out like most gym rats but was never truly committed

It all came together for me in September of 2008, when I came home from work and found myself diving deep into a bag of potato chips (favorite snack), all while my 2 year old son joined me. At well over 210lbs and a body fat percentage that I’d shutter
to share (+20%), the light went on and it was time for a change. That next week I rejoined the gym, committed to the process and began taking control of my life and physical well being. A mere 7 months later, I was standing on stage competing in my first bodybuilding
competition at a weight of 167lbs. I placed 5th.

While I would not necessarily recommend this drastic of transformation, it speaks to today’s brief and… “the moment when” I took control and made a change. Since that time, I have competed almost annually and love the thrill of competition and having pre-determined
goals. I believe goals are essential to successful change as well as ultimately experiencing “your moment” when you decide to take control.

If you think about “the moment when” relative to other aspects of life, it’s really quite powerful. The moment when you fell in love, the moment when you realized you were becoming a parent, the moment when you took note of how fortunate your life is.
Many, many powerful times in our lives.

Is the moment now?
